Cellist Karolina Öhman performs internationally with a diverse repertoire. Tours and festival appearances have taken Karolina to numerous countries across Europe and Asia. She is especially committed to the performance of contemporary music and has premiered over 200 solo, chamber music and ensemble works.
Karolina has appeared as a soloist with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, WDR Sinfonieorchester, Meiningen Court Orchestra, Basel Sinfonietta, Camerata Zürich, Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden and the Ensemble Namascae among others. Being a devoted chamber musician, Karolina is in addition to UmeDuo also a member of several ensembles of varied instrumentation, including Mondrian Ensemble Basel, ensemble neuverBand Basel, Trio SÆITENWIND and the Curious Chamber Players Stockholm. Since 2016 she also performs as principal cellist of the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden.
Karolina has won several awards including the Swiss Music Prize with the Mondrian Ensemble in 2018 and the 1st prize at the prestigious Concours Nicati in Bern. She studied with Torleif Thedéen, Thomas Demenga and Thomas Grossenbacher and graduated with a soloist diploma from the Zürich University of the Arts in Switzerland.
